DIPN Launch Strengthens Malaysia’s Defence Industry, Mindmatics Showcases Local Innovations
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 January 2026 — The launch of the National Defence Industry Policy (DIPN) was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), marking a significant step toward strengthening the nation’s overall defence capabilities.
The DIPN serves as a strategic framework to transform Malaysia’s defence industry into a more self-reliant, sustainable, and globally competitive sector. The policy emphasizes reducing dependency on foreign technologies and suppliers while accelerating the development of high-impact domestic defence technologies.
Key focus areas of the DIPN include the development of a comprehensive local defence ecosystem, the advancement of high-technology innovation, and the strengthening of strategic collaboration between the defence sector, academia, and industry. This initiative is expected to drive Malaysia’s capability to develop modern and integrated defence systems.
At the event, local company Mindmatics Sdn Bhd participated by showcasing a range of its homegrown solutions, including TEDUNG (ELINT System), CAMAR (Coastal Surveillance System), MANTIS (Anti-Drone System), DMR, and COP (Common Operating Picture). The TEDUNG (ELINT System), which has been recognized as one of the core products under the National Defence Industry Policy (DIPN), was among the key highlights, reflecting the capability of local industry players in supporting national aspirations toward a robust, high-technology defence ecosystem.
The launch of the DIPN is seen as a critical milestone in ensuring Malaysia continues to strengthen its sovereignty and national security through the development of a sustainable and competitive defence industry for the long term.
